FBFK Law Closes Sale of Texas Southwest Floors to Private Investor Group

DALLAS (May 1, 2024) – Dallas-based FBFK Law Firm announced the strategic sale of its client, Texas Southwest Floors, a leading provider of high-quality flooring and countertop solutions, to a private investor group. Led by FBFK Transactional Shareholder/Attorney Mackey Culbertson with support from FBFK Attorney/Assistant General Counsel Carson Reihsen, the deal closed for an undisclosed amount.

According to Culbertson, the transaction presented some unique challenges. Most notably, he says early on in the transaction process FBFK was able to identify a beneficial tax structure for the transaction that was utilized to make a considerable positive tax impact to FBFK’s clients while maintaining the other economic aspects of the deal.

Since its inception in 1995, Texas Southwest Floors was owned and operated by Mitch Wolfe and Kent Prat. It will now be under new private ownership and run by long-time employee and now-President Mike Hopkins and his business partner and now-CEO Tim Williams.

As detailed in a Texas Southwest Floors news release announcing the deal: “Under the new ownership, TSF will leverage its decades of experience and industry expertise to further expand its presence in the thriving Texas market with a focus on the greater Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin areas.”

Culbertson adds that the transaction represents decades of hard work and attention to detail and quality by Prat and Wolfe, as they look to transition the company to new ownership that can continue and grow that legacy. “FBFK was honored to help them in achieving this goal.”
