FBFK Preserves Plano History Through Negotiation with Oncor

In December 2019, while installing a new utility pole, Oncor unearthed human remains just outside of the Plano Old City Cemetery fence line. The cemetery has historical significance because it is the final resting place for many of the original founders of the City of Plano, but it had fallen into disrepair. FBFK represents the Plano Old City Cemetery Association (POCCA), which was formed to take custody of the cemetery, and POCCA has worked to restore the cemetery and preserve the history of these early settlers through outreach and education.

Unfortunately, the remains uncovered by Oncor could not be identified. However, POCCA remained committed to handling the remains of this unknown person with dignity and respect. On behalf of POCCA, FBFK attorneys John Fraser and J. Beverly, sought out assistance from Oncor to reinter the remains. Through these communications, Oncor agreed to pay for the reinternment, which was accomplished with the involvement of the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office and a local funeral home. POCCA and FBFK are grateful to Oncor for their commitment to public service and preservation of Plano’s history.
