Summer Associate Program
This summer marked an exciting milestone at FBFK Law: we welcomed our largest Summer Associate class yet, seven bright interns across four offices in Texas and California. As our firm continues to grow, so does our commitment to investing in the future of law. For us, that doesn’t just mean offering legal training. It means building a culture where the next generation of attorneys can thrive, professionally, personally, and collaboratively.
From the start, our interns were immersed in meaningful work that reflected the breadth of our full-service model. While many experienced litigation firsthand (research, drafting, discovery), they also had the opportunity to contribute across a range of transactional matters. From updates to the Texas Business Organizations Code to assisting with mergers, employment issues, and franchise structures, the exposure was deep and diverse.
One intern summed it up well: “I really had my plate full.” And that’s exactly the kind of experience we want to provide, one that’s challenging, rewarding, and grounded in real-world legal practice.
Discovery work proved to be one of the more demanding experiences, tens of thousands of documents, detailed analysis, and a lesson in persistence. But it was also an eye-opener. It gave interns a clear sense of how cases evolve and why diligence matters. As one intern shared, “It was the most in-depth analysis I’ve ever done. I started to really understand how scope and precision can shape a case.”
But the summer wasn’t just about sharpening legal skills. It was about stepping into the identity of what it means to be a lawyer, not just in title, but in mindset. For some, drafting a corporate agreement or navigating client-facing contracts marked a meaningful shift. “It was the first time I felt like I wasn’t just studying law, I was practicing it. And the support at FBFK Law made that transition real.”
That support came, in large part, from the culture. Every intern received The FBFK Law Way during onboarding – a simple, clear framework that reflects who we are and how we work. It’s not fluff. It’s lived. Interns shared how often our values: integrity, collaboration, and appreciation, showed up in hallway conversations, case reviews, and client calls. In a high-growth, high-performance environment, our culture remains our constant.
Of course, the summer wouldn’t be complete without a little fun. A Frisco RoughRiders baseball game turned into an unforgettable evening when Partner John Frasier signed the interns up for a surprise three-legged race during the seventh-inning stretch. “We ended up on the jumbotron,” one intern laughed. “It was a perfect snapshot of how this firm mixes excellence with real, human connection.”
Courtroom experiences left their mark too – from trial prep to voir dire discussions to those late-night research sessions that revealed just how high the bar is for great legal work and how rewarding it can be to rise to that level.
As the program wrapped, what we heard most from our interns was gratitude. Not just for the experience, but for the people. “Everyone here was patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in our growth.”
At FBFK Law, we believe in building not just firms, but futures. This summer, we were reminded again of why that matters. And if our interns are any sign of what’s ahead, we’re in good hands.
