With more than 30 years of experience, Kirby Cronin’s clients rely on him for a full array of intellectual property counseling and support, including with respect to trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, domain names, social media issues, and other similar intellectual property needs. In addition, Kirby has extensive experience in a wide variety of intellectual property transactions, litigation, and counseling, especially with respect to software licensing, SaaS offerings, intellectual property transfers, and other technology-related matters. Kirby also has developed significant experience throughout his career in a variety of other areas, such as commercial litigation and commercial and business transactions.
Kirby’s practice is heavily focused on portfolio management through which he counsels clients on the entire scope of their global intellectual property assets and risk profiles. For instance, his trademark practice supports more than 100 clients and their trademark needs in the U.S. and more than 60 foreign jurisdictions. Kirby’s clients view him as an on-demand extension of their internal legal team or, if they don’t have an internal legal team, as a trusted resource to act as the first point of contact to assist with any of their legal needs.
Kirby believes that one of the most important skills a lawyer can have is the ability to explain legal issues to clients in understandable terms so that they can make intelligent, thoughtful decisions that support their business goals. He derives a great deal of pleasure from educating his clients about their legal options, and he has extended those efforts to teaching new lawyers that skill. For instance, in addition to training many young lawyers during his years of practice, Kirby was engaged by the University of Texas School of Law to teach Transactional Drafting for several years.
