Mr. Buncher has over 30 years of experience handling complex business and bankruptcy related litigation matters for businesses and individuals, both on the plaintiff and defense side of litigation, and on the debtor and creditor side of bankruptcy matters. Mr. Buncher handles cases in both state and federal courts involving claims of breach of contract, business torts such as tortious interference with contractual and business relationships, fraud, director and officer liability, breach of fiduciary duty, violations of Texas and federal securities law, and negligence , as well as fraudulent transfer claims under both state and federal bankruptcy law. Mr. Buncher has also handled cases involving misappropriation of trade secrets and violations of covenants not to compete and non-solicitation agreements on both the defense and plaintiff side.

In addition to guiding companies through complex litigation, Mr. Buncher has substantial experience helping companies in a wide variety of industries reorganize and restructure their businesses and debts through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, including small business reorganization cases under Subchapter V of the Bankruptcy Code, as well as out of court restructurings and workouts. Mr. Buncher has assisted a number of clients with reaching agreements with their creditors and other constituencies to avoid bankruptcy and achieve their goals outside of court. Mr. Buncher also represents creditors in bankruptcy cases and helps them protect their rights when a company they are dealing with files bankruptcy. In some instances, Mr. Buncher has also represented high net worth individuals in individual Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

Mr. Buncher has handled a number of high-profile bankruptcy and receivership related litigation matters, including multi-billion dollar litigation on behalf of the SEC Receiver and the Official Stanford Investors’ Committee in the widely publicized Stanford Financial Group receivership, an SEC receivership arising from the Allen Stanford Ponzi scheme, one of the largest Ponzi schemes in U.S. history. Mr. Buncher helped recover over $350 million for the benefit of the Stanford investors while representing the Receiver and Investors Committee in multiple lawsuits against third parties that were involved with Stanford. The Stanford litigation also involved multiple successful appeals to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and one successful appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Buncher has also handled litigation and bankruptcy matters involving simultaneous cross-border insolvency cases in the United States and other foreign jurisdictions.
