Business Litigation Shareholder - Orange County

We are seeking an associate with 10 years of experience to join our Business Litigation team in Orange County, CA.  Ideal candidate should have experience in corporate and commercial litigation, a strong academic background and business litigation skills. This person will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex commercial litigation matters, representing clients in various industries in State and Federal courts and ADR. This person will collaborate with other team members in developing and executing legal strategies, conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and motions, and participate in all aspects of litigation proceedings including trial.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Case Management: First-chair business litigation cases.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex issues related to business disputes in such areas as contracts, manufacturing, trade secrets, fiduciary duty, corporate governance, unfair business practices, UCC, finance and commercial real estate.
  • Drafting: Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients in motion hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial.
  • Depositions and Witness Preparation: Take and defend depositions, as well as prepare clients and witnesses for depositions and trial testimony.
  • Legal Compliance: Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the handling of litigation matters.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior associates and legal staff as needed.

Compensation

  • Base salary ranges from $190,000 to $210,000 per year determined upon experience and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal - Austin, Texas

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our Litigation Team in Austin. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our attorneys in all aspects of litigation, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our legal processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize files in an orderly manner following the standard naming and profiling conventions when scanning, emailing, and saving documents to the document management system.
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting and filing legal documents, pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other documents.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including the preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
  • Conduct legal research using various resources to support case strategies and arguments.
  • Timely reviews and ensures accuracy of vendor invoices; prepares accurate check requests and timely submits invoices for payment to client or accounting.
  • Participates in the timely review and submission of prebills and client bills; including entering time.
  • Possesses strong clerical skills including typing, transcribing, word processing, mail and contact management, spreadsheets, presentations, and all of the firm’s systems and databases.
  • Regularly and accurately proofreads all documents to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to distribution or filing.
  • Ability to file in state and federal courts using eFile Texas and CM/ECF.
  • Calculate and calendar deadlines per applicable rules.
  • Coordinate and calendar hearings, depositions, mediations, etc.
  • Assist in document productions (Bates labeling, redaction, indexing, etc.)
  • Regularly and consistently updates client files, prepare hearing notebooks, and pleading indices.
  • Maintains office supplies by checking stocks and coordinates ordering of same.
  • Prepare mailings via FedEx, USPS and Certified Mail.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of work.

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Minimum 5+ years recent commercial litigation legal assistant experience in Texas within a law firm. Experience as a legal assistant in data privacy, government regulations and/or criminal law is a plus but MUST have commercial litigation legal assistant experience.
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, procedures, practices, terminology, etc.
  • Knowledge of state and federal court procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing, with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with attention to detail, as well as excellent proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Punctual with excellent attendance.
  • Extensive computer and legal database software experience, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro, and you must be comfortable learning other software programs.
  • Ability to multi-task, and timely respond to deadlines as well as balance workload.
  • Must have a can-do attitude and be a team player.
  • Notary a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to work in our Austin, Texas office. This is not a remote work position.

Compensation

  • Base salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 per year determined upon experience.

Executive Assistant - Plano, Texas

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant in Plano, Texas to provide top-tier support to our firm’s high-level management, including the President and COO, as well as other administrative managers. This role involves assisting with scheduling, special events, projects, initiatives, and programs, functioning as a high-level liaison to clients and business partners, and exercising discretion and independent judgment on significant matters.  An ideal candidate will have high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and make decisions on significant matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Provides direct support to high level firm managers. Drafts and manages correspondence and communications, schedules appointments, manages calendar, and coordinates travel. Prepares travel arrangements and itineraries, and approves and processes travel reimbursements.

  • Compiles reports, maintains records and other documents. Provides support for long-range planning and scheduling activities. Provides expert advice to management.
  • Coordinates special events.
  • Acts as the President’s representative in dealing with third parties.
  • Researches and handles special projects.
  • Makes arrangements for clients and business partners, as well as potential clients and business partners and welcomes them on behalf of the firm’s President.
  • Arranges firm social functions and receptions hosted by firm.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
