Nicole L. Phillips
Nicole is experienced in civil litigation and practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation and employment law. She has represented clients in both state and federal court, in matters before the EEOC, and in mediations. Ms. Phillips has extensive experience in employment law and has represented clients in diverse employment matters involving non-competition agreements, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination arising under federal and state employment statutes. Ms. Phillips has advised employers on the hiring process, employee policies, leaves of absence, employee terminations and reductions in force, wage and hour laws, and other day-to-day employment law issues, and has assisted clients in authoring and revising employment manuals. Ms. Phillips has also represented clients in diverse commercial litigation matters involving contract disputes, real estate, construction, business torts, insurance, and products and premises liability. She is experienced in drafting legal briefs, motions, mediation statements, settlement agreements, employment and separation agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, and EEOC position statements. She has extensive experienced in all aspects of civil litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, case management, and trial preparation.
Ms. Phillips graduated summa cum laude from the University of St. Thomas in 2007 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in English. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2010. Ms. Phillips served as the Symposium Editor for the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics from 2009-2010. While at Georgetown, she worked as a law clerk at the United States Department of Justice and as a research assistant at Georgetown University Law Center’s International Women’s Human Rights Clinic.
